Accessibility

Last updated: August 22, 2025

My Commitment

Scott Artley Consulting exists to expand access. I aim to practice what I teach by embedding accessibility across my website, consulting services, trainings, learning products, and public events. You’ll never be asked to prove disability to receive accommodations.

  • Standard: I am working to maintain conformance with WCAG 2.2 Level AA and believe the current site meets that standard. Accessibility is an ongoing practice; if you find an issue, I want to hear about it and fix it.

  • Response time: I aim to respond to access inquiries within 2–3 business days, which is aligned with the pace I am able to work.

How to contact me about access

  • Email: scott@scottartley.com

  • Contact form (above)

When reporting a barrier, letting me know about the context, time/date, or sharing the page/URL, a brief description, and any assistive tech you’re using helps me resolve things faster.

Website accessibility

This statement covers www.scottartley.com and my direct services. I use a mix of manual checks against WCAG 2.2 AA and lightweight automated tools, with re-checks after meaningful site updates.

Design intentions include:

  • Clear page titles, logical heading order, and semantic HTML landmarks.

  • Descriptive link and button text.

  • Images with appropriate alt text or marked decorative when not informative.

  • Keyboard access to interactive elements with visible focus indicators.

  • Color contrast tuned to meet or exceed WCAG 2.2 AA. Brand colors were updated in 2025; if you spot a combination I missed, please let me know.

If you encounter an inaccessible file or element, I’ll provide an accessible alternative as practicable.

Accessibility in my services (how I work)

I align work across the areas I teach—Policies; Access Planning & Resources; Physical/Architectural; Communications & Outreach; Programs & Services—and I tailor solutions to the context.

By default, I will:

  • Use plain language and provide accessibly structured documents.

  • Share tagged PDFs and editable slide decks when practicable (sometimes not available ahead of time).

  • Offer automated captions by default for webinars and talks I host.

  • Coordinate ASL or other communication access on request with reasonable lead time, working with the host organization to budget and schedule appropriately.

  • Document and track accommodation requests respectfully, and close the loop on agreed solutions.

Events and public activities with clients

When I’m speaking, training, or co-producing a public event, I partner with host organizations to plan and resource access for the public and for employees. At minimum, we will:

  • Publish clear access notes in event listings (routes, seating, restrooms, sensory considerations, service animal policies, and a contact for access).

  • Budget and schedule appropriate communication access (e.g., live or automated captions; ASL upon request with lead time when aligned with budget scope).

  • Provide multiple ways to participate where feasible (e.g., virtual options, accessible slide delivery, flexible Q&A).

  • Provide accessible versions of materials upon request when the project timeline allows.

Third-party content

Some features (e.g., embeds, ticketing, scheduling tools) may be provided by third parties. I select tools with accessibility in mind and advocate for accessible configurations. If a third-party element is a barrier, I’ll work to provide an alternative.

Continuous improvement

Accessibility is never “done.” I review this page and the site after major updates and periodically to keep pace with standards and real-world use.

Feedback & complaints

If anything on this site or in my services is inaccessible to you, contact scott@scottartley.com or use the Contact form at the top of this page. I’ll acknowledge within 2–3 business days and share a plan or timeline if a fix needs deeper work.
