What is Access Hour?

Access Hour is an hour to think out loud about disability access in arts, culture, and public life. It's free, lightly facilitated — just enough to keep things moving — but the space is (h)ours.

Connecting with a community of practitioners has been critical to my own work, and this is the space I built for that. Bring a question, a resource, a sticky problem, or just curiosity about what others are working on. We sometimes have special guests — accessibility practitioners from around the country, funders with something worth knowing, or a disabled artist you should meet. But mostly, it goes where participants take it.

Who attends?

You're welcome to join if you:

  • Work or volunteer in arts, culture, or any community-driven domain where belonging in public matters

  • Are grappling with how to make something more accessible

  • Have been through an access project and want a touchpoint to come back to

  • Are simply curious what others are trying

Anchored in Minnesota. Open to all.

Come for connection

Access Hour isn't free consulting — but it can be a good place to gain perspective, find a resource, or connect with someone who might help. Insights come from practitioners speaking from experience. Take what's useful, and know that nothing shared here substitutes for professional advice. It's also a great way to stay connected long after a project together wraps.

Event Accessibility

This event takes place on Google Meet with automated captions. Join by video, audio, phone, or chat — whatever works. If there's anything that would make it easier for you to participate, reach out to me before, during, or after. Sessions are not recorded.
